A Pastoral Care Worker is someone who supports students, staff, and families in lots of ways. I am particularly passionate about students having a solid understanding of emotions and what to do about them and I also love popping into classrooms to help out where I can. Students may wish to see me about friendship issues, for emotional support such as anxiety, or for one off chats when needed.
I have previously worked as a community practitioner in rural Queensland assisting at risk families and disengaged youth, this involved lots of visits to primary schools where I not only worked with students, but in partnership with teachers and staff. After having time off with my children, I wanted to look for a role that was similar - working with kids in a school setting, but would also allow me to balance young kids at home.
I am at Gawler Primary on Thursdays and Fridays from 9am to 3pm. I am often found in the middle area at recess and lunch playing UNO which can get quite competitive!!
