Jakob Schmaal

My role as an ACEO is primarily to provide cultural and culturally sensitive support to both the indigenous (ATSI) students and their families within our school community.

Another important aspect of my role is cultural education to our non-indigenous students. Providing Indigenous perspectives and cultural education to the teachers.

I do this through a range of activities and exercises, such as:

• Indigenous Games
  Exploring art and art styles
  Traditional art practices
  Bush foods, traditional cooking
  Story telling, history and our changing culture
  Through sharing and exploring indigenous cultures we promote cultural inclusivity, diversity and awareness in our school community.
